The quaint town of Sidi Bou Said, on the Côte de Carthage, is famed throughout Tunisia for being an artist’s paradise as it is so picturesque. Lined with whitewashed walls, arched blue doors and balconies with intricate metalwork, and flowers everywhere, Sidi Bou Said is a close to picture-perfect as anywhere in the Mediterranean.

The beaches and surrounding ocean are clean and clear, and only a stone’s throw from Tunisia’s capital if you are looking to escape the city.

Despite the many tourists that visit each year, it still has a village atmosphere and the feeling of a low profile resort. If you feel like a break from the beach and are visiting the town, don’t forget to take a look round the impressive marina, or take a wander up the village path to the mountains if you’re feeling adventurous. There is also the innumerable ruins of Carthage, a major attraction in the area, and there are concerts to be enjoyed in it’s amphitheatre in the summer.
